Welcome to California.
Having moved here about two weeks ago, it’s already apparent to me how California is different from the South: (just two for now)
1. Being a vegetarian isn’t equivalent to being an alien. Vegetarian options are plentiful and come without a side of strange looks or questions.
2. An explanation for moving here isn’t necessary. Most people have similar stories to share and just offer a nod of the head and a friendly “welcome to town”
3. Lingo. Jargon. Whatever you want to call it, there is definitely a way of speaking here. Where else can you find nonfat fro yo?
